Our Chef-Reuben Kimber
Hailing from North Devon, UK, he honed his skills alongside Michelin-starred legend Michael Caines (the Michelin-starred chef, not the actor) and flourished at the fashionable Soho House Groups Babbington House in Somerset. In 2009 when traveling to Australia, he stopped off in Koh Samui which captured his heart, and was offered a job at Thailand's largest beachfront villa, which catered mainly for Corporate events, large weddings, film shoots and parties of all descriptions.
At this time Reuben founded the island's largest independent catering company, showcasing his commitment to quality. When Covid hit, he transformed into a hospitality task force, aiding 5* resorts, restaurants and beach clubs in Thailand and beyond as well as producing complimentary food twice a week for those who were struggling and out of work.
Recently, he joined forces with his old friends at the iconic Dr Frogs, bringing his culinary passion to a more intimate setting. For Reuben, the magic lies in simplicity—using the freshest, locally sourced seasonal produce to craft dishes that he loves. He’s passionate about working closely with local producers and mentoring young aspiring chefs of whom many have gone on to greater things.
The food at Dr Frogs has always been excellent but now it’s even better and is truly a must-go place when on Samui for both locals and people traveling through.
